OUR PHILOSOPHY

Doc Phytness was built on one belief:

You don’t just train to feel better - you train to live better.

L.I.F.E. isn’t just a word - it’s our purpose.
it’s how we approach movement, health, and performance.

Longevity - build a body that stands up to the demands of daily life and recreation. not just getting out of pain today - but preventing it from returning. Not just living longer - but adding strength, capacity and resilience to those years.

Independence - move with confidence. freedom from Pain or constant flare-ups. Freedom to play golf, pickleball, travel and live actively without hesitation.

Function - True performance is more than isolated strength or flexibility.
It’s coordinated, athletic movement that transfers to sport, work, and everyday life.
We train how your body is meant to move — integrated, powerful, and controlled.

Efficiency - Doing more with less stress. Better movement patterns, better force production, increased speed and smarter recovery strategies. The result: reduced strain, improved performance, and lower injury risk.

Whether you’re an athlete, golfer, weekend warrior, or someone who simply refuses to slow down with age, our mission is the same:
Build a body that is strong, resilient and ready for life.

We combine evidence-based practice with advanced clinical expertise to deliver the safest and most effective path to your goals.

WE bridge the gap between physical therapy and performance training.

We don’t separate rehab from fitness - we integrate them.

THE FACTS

Muscle mass declines approximately 3–8% per decade after age 30, accelerating after 60 and even more rapidly after 75. Loss of strength and muscle is not just cosmetic — it directly impacts independence, metabolism, bone density, and longevity.

What the Research Shows About Resistance Training

  • Associated with a ~15% lower risk of all-cause mortality.

  • Improves grip strength — a powerful predictor of longevity.

    • Each 5 kg decrease in grip strength is linked to a 16% higher risk of all-cause mortality.

    • Stronger grip strength predicts lower cardiovascular death, disability, and frailty.

  • When combined with high-impact loading, can increase Bone Mineral Density by ~1–2% at the hip and lumbar spine, helping reverse osteopenia and osteoporosis.

  • Increases muscle mass, raising resting and sleep metabolic rate by approximately 7–8% — equating to roughly 50–100+ additional calories burned per day.

  • Reduces overall sports injury risk in all athletes by up to 66%.

  • Improves posture and spinal alignment.

  • Enhances static and dynamic balance, reducing fall risk by approximately 23%.

  • Significantly reduces symptoms of depression, anxiety, and perceived stress.

  • Improves cognitive performance — including memory, executive function, attention, and processing speed (increases of ~5–8% reported in studies).

The Bottom Line

Treat your physical wellness like a 401(k) retirement plan.
The earlier and smarter you invest, the greater your returns in strength, resilience, health, and independence.

Your future self is built by the deposits you make today.

TESTIMONIALS

  • I’m a senior guy with chronic lower back issues since 2016. I was looking for an experienced trainer who could continue to strengthen my back and I was most fortunate to find Dr. Jeff Seakan, Doc Phytness who is also a DPT! I’ve been working with Jeff 3 times weekly since July 2022 and my whole body is much stronger and my lower back is significantly improved with minimal pain now!

What I like best about Doc Phytness’ approach to our workouts is that he continually charts my workouts and each session is different with limited time on machines. He is also teaching me new techniques I can do at home to be more active and healthy. I can tell Jeff truly takes our time together seriously with my wellness as his goal! Thank you Doc Phytness. 5 STARS!

  • I am a 74 year old woman and have been working with Jeff for over three months. My goal was to improve my strength, stability and flexibility. Initially there was a thorough evaluation of my strengths and weaknesses, which really surprised me of the deficits. Jeff provided me with his expertise, great support and answered all of my questions. He is very knowledgeable. I am feeling much better now, more confident, and most of all, motivated! A big plus, Jeff is super nice and fun! No boring workouts! He’s the best!

  • “Jeff is a terrific trainer. He listened carefully to understand my objectives and tailored a routine to achieve those goals. Jeff is personable and, importantly, attentive during the workouts to insure proper technique is followed to achieve maximum benefit and prevent injury.”

  • I met Dr. Jeff in February 2023 when I was nearly ready to "give up." I had been dealing with nonstop left hip and leg pain for months; and, after at least 3 multi-visit sessions of Physical Therapy, I was told that I really needed to build my core as traditional PT was not the (only) answer. Jeff designed a program that addressed my present needs and level of fitness. He explained how and why certain exercises were appropriate and others were not. He collaborated with me to help me understand why my postural habits (after nearly 70 years of life) have contributed to my issues and complaints. I learned that you are never too old to become fit. I learned that simple but consistent changes make a big difference. I learned that I needn't resort to using painkillers or that having a bad day shouldn't define the rest of my life. Directly and indirectly....Jeff taught me to have more confidence in myself. I will be forever grateful for that.

  • “I started on my road to recovery, after having successfully gone through simultaneous bilateral knee replacements, While the surgery slowed me down for a while, by researching and locating the best in the physical therapy business. That search lead me to Dr Jeff Seakan. After a thorough evaluation of my post-surgery status, Jeff set up a physical therapy schedule and customized fitness program designed specifically for me — at both his facility and subsequent sessions at my home. His knowledge and expertise in the world of physical therapy, along with my determination, brought me to today, where I am back to living an active pain-free lifestyle.”

    -Karl H.

  • “Jeff is the all around, A-Z professional. He is confident and very knowledgeable about his work, and he delivers even better, telling you the information needed. Fantastic trainer, understands everything you speak about, and acts accordingly. 100% spot on!”
